What an ending.

Archie Andrew's 1000 • 1 year ago

And so ends the final ep in Megaton-kyuu Musashi S2 which here's gonna be a good review and analysis break down of this ep and both season in both Noah Winn-Croamere and Typereco (aka Essey-kun) like style.

First review:
Megaton-kyuu Musashi both S1 + S2.
Source: Mix Media project/ game.
Genre: Mecha, sci-fi, action.
Studio: OLM
(Which's known for anime's like Pokemon, Yokai Watch, Komi-san, Summertime Render, Odd Taxi, still currently airing Ninjala, Nagatoro S2 that just finish. and many more.

This was directed by Akihiro Hino and few others in both seasons and produced by Takashi Inoue. Which among a lot of others created such great series with this seasons music performance was done by Mana Kobayashi.

Personal analyze:
This series franchise is a basic cliché story of humans vs aliens war that involves in the apocalypses of the earth with mechas in a mecha series... Which has been seen and done with other franchises such as Neon Genesis Evangelion, Macross, ect.. with a mix of high tier CGI mech battles seen in mobile games and or home consoles to 2D shonen animation with great OST. Also ep time length that of RE:Zero eps for the s t o r y.

Ofc this series also copies similarities to Evanelion, Macross, Rahxephon, one other that the ending shared in a certain reference is from Escaflowne.

Btw part 2 of this in a reply.

Part 2

Personal thoughts:
This series has been good back at the beginning of S1 all the way to the end of S2
and covered quite a bit in story but in some shortcomings are some characters background story were weak and seem rushed to put in the last half, also focused on so many new version mechas. But the whole story dialogue and remind of anime like Rahxephon, Macross, and a few others that I like so much... (Yes I'm a bit of a mecha anime buff..) The OST's performances and songs alone made this also shine aside the mechs ofc.
The big range of VA cast were perfecto and felt those emotions from this since we had VA's like Dio's and Capt Yami whom we follow, also surprise we got Aoi Yuuki who did Eve which was a surprise ^^.

Most negatives are this has the same presences as Macross, Raxephon, and Cross Angie that did make this original and a easy to predict story line in sense.
Also OLM had so much trouble finishing this since production staff was working other projects like Pokemon (I believe,) and push back to finish due to covid T^T

The last episode discussion:
The last episode wrapped up a lot of happy endings with
~Mirai growing up and becoming the next generation pilot like with Macross and Guren Loggan.
~Ships sailing of certain characters.
~Yamato didn't die and came back ^^ Also with Arshem.
~Left mostly everything ended in wholesome way.
~Father and daughter reuniting with no death flags.
~Gave a good Escaflowne roles reverse reference ^^
~Families brought together.
~Tribute to all the VA's

Also since this left a clue that could be a S3 in some distant future but it's definitely gonna continue Megaton Musashi W game with obviously left a trailer for it.

Anyways this season and S1 gets a solid 9/10 from me.

great review Arch. but you forgot the HUGE difference between the 'humanoid' animation style (similar to hand-drawn) and the 'mecha battle' animation style which looked all fancy/shiny CGA. it LOOKED like two DIFFERENT shows were going on inside the same episode. :D

even when the 'humanoid' animation was walking around CG sci-fi uber science scenes and backgrounds the 'mecha battle' style wasn't exactly reproduced in those scenes. whereas the 'humanoid' style was utilized in 'shelter interior and Earth exterior' scenes. but the massive 'mecha battle' style was ONLY present in the backgrounds and environs for those battle scenes.

this disparity is easily noticed when one scene is 'humanoid style' only, but the 'mecha battle style' is in the next cut. but the battle is QUITE nearby the 'humanoids' scene... and yet the backgrounds and environs look ALMOST ENTIRELY different. :D

Archie Andrew's 1000 • 1 year ago

Your right I should of put more effort into that and forgot a few things.

LesK • 1 year ago

that's allright Arch! you did a spot-on job, well done! :>

The mech at 27:12, I'm pretty sure that's the same mech that was at the end of the Megaton Musashi W trailer. And I wonder if Mirai will be the protag for the new content in Megaton Musashi W.

That... was quite the ending. I'm confused as to what happened, but I guess I'll have to check out Megaton Musashi W to see where the story goes.

Shadow Moon • 1 year ago

that mech looks like the love child of a Roboborg and a Zaku...

Time to get game when it comes out

kanra • 1 year ago

damn so its finally over it was weird how they handled this last season but nonetheless i enjoyed this from start to finish. I was thinkng there was this gonna be this huge battle with the elzed empire but i guess not lmao

Archie Andrew's 1000 • 1 year ago

Same here btw stay around for me review for this if you want.

LesK • 1 year ago

all in all, an interesting multi-media project, game and anime. not that i know diddly about the game... but the anime wasn't entirely a suck-fest. if i was to recommend this show to anybody... they would have to already be a mecha fan to start with. either that or somebody who's getting the sequel game W or thinking about it.

not every mecha can be as good as 'Knights' Magic' with its god-tier blending of hand-drawn style and CGA. but MusashiX... shows how FAR we've come, but STILL can't blend the two techniques/styles easily. as to the writing? this show's screenplays remind me of MACROSS and ROBOTECH when i got started in anime back in 1990. these shows are NOT just about 'war stories', but about the PEOPLE behind/inside the weapons.

rating? solid 6 outta 10. it was above average, but not good enough to get anywhere close to a 7 or higher.

well, it took a while to get here... but it is over with... for now. :) perhaps they'll make a companion anime to the new game W like this one was for X. :) see y'all around!

PhantomDR • 1 year ago

wait this has a game?

SD • 2 days ago

Yep, called Megaton Musashi Wired. It's out now on Steam, PS4/5 and Switch.

LesK • 1 year ago

i've also read that some fan-groups have tried to kludge together a translation of the first game... but i wouldn't trust any of the pirated copies those are created from. generally, fanslations of games are buggier than hell and crash easily.

LesK • 1 year ago

yup, the game came first in Japan and the game studio is making a sequel called M etc etc. but with W instead of X in the title. supposedly the sequel will be crafted from the start for international distribution instead of how the first game is still in the 'we THINK we can patch together a translation' for all the Japanese text in-game.

LesK • 1 year ago

9:27 oookay. NOTE ABOUT THE TRANSLATOR NOTE at that timecode. fansubber should have remained mute because he/she just major league showed his/her ignorance about dynamite and TNT and high explosive military ordinance. the line from the character explains the WHOLE CONCEPT the TL Note says he/she doesn't understand.

registered as a patent in Germany by Alfred Nobel in 1867. he was looking for a way to stabilize nitroglycerin and make it safer to transport and utilize. so instead of somebody coughing, sneezing, or jiggling a glass vial just the wrong way and KILLING THEMSELVES or the nitro sloshing juuust a touch too much on a train in a truck etc. and BIG BOOM! dynamite's sawdust and wrappings and the 'stick' shape and the blasting cap tamed nitroglycerine. well. guess what militaries all around the world were looking for and have been since the Chinese figured out gunpowder thousands upon thousands of years ago? a highly stable and very explosive substance. Nobel invented it, but other folks took it and utilized it for their own ideas.

just like how cars were invented, then they became trucks, became battlefield transportation, became tanks. planes started as mechanical scientific experiments, became weapons of war, then world hopping mass transportation systems for the public.

james trenton • 1 year ago

dynamite may have been invented for blasting rocks but it was also used for fishing. thats what he means when he says technology will be used for what ever it can be.

SD • 2 days ago

For those wanting to continue the story, you can do so through the game titled Megaton Musashi Wired. It's available on Steam, PS4/5 and Switch.

PhantomDR • 1 year ago

well let's see how this ends, i am not expecting much seeing as the entire season was meh

MRpaisan • 1 year ago

Dame there's a lot going on in this episode. So patently Arshem, and yamatoo are lovers? When did that happen. The end credits is like a movie. Quite good honestly. Also ooks like there's more to be expected from The author, and director.

UglySatchFanatic • 1 year ago

I didn't expect a wonderful ending for this roller coaster series but I'm not saying it's bad, it's just that everything seems to be in chaos.
So, will we get a 3rd season with Mirai as protagonist then Yamato is now the queen consort who serves not only as Arshem's husband but also as a bodyguard.

SD • 1 year ago

The story will probably continue in the game that's scheduled to release this year. Unless the game sells a ton I doubt a 3rd season will happen.

LesK • 1 year ago

they'll probably do some anime thing to coincide with the sequel game just like S1 and 2 of X went along with the first game.

SD • 1 year ago

S2 was revealed in the final episode of S1, and this episode is labeled as the final episode whereas the last episode of S1 wasn't. Though who knows, this is Level-5. They could surprise us.

Daryl Willis • 1 year ago

They rush this ending and yet they planning a new generation for this thats a nonsense

KrondaliX • 1 year ago

I'm completely lost here.

Aleste • 1 year ago

I just knew they wouldn’t kill off Yamato that easily… But it looks like this is far from over.

Weiss Pieceman • 1 year ago

The ending left open for season 3?

Weiss Pieceman • 1 year ago

Or only for the game?

SD • 1 year ago

This seems to be the final episode, so you'll have to play the game to find out what happens.

Felix Nascimento • 1 year ago

its sad that you will have to play the game to know the end of the history. For those that cannot play could only search the internet for some kind of plot summary of the game.

SD • 1 year ago

Yeah or a playthrough on YT.

Clawzes • 1 year ago

Yeah I want to know what happens next but I don't know where to search for the game...

SD • 1 year ago

The game is supposed to be coming out this year. It's not up on store pages yet though, which is why you can't find it.

Clawzes • 1 year ago

Update me when the game releases.

SD • 2 days ago

The game is now out on Switch, PS4/5, and Steam.

SD • 5 months ago

They announced a release date for the game: it's supposed to come out on April 25, 2024.

SD • 1 year ago

I'll try.
